Road signs and large vehicles

Following discussions with Back Garden Swindon Borough Council have installed warning signs at the entrance to the narrow roads between Eastcott Hill and Victoria Road. The signs are advisory, that is, they allow essential vehicles to use the streets, but remove the standard objection of driver who claim that they had no idea Western Street or Prospect Hill, etc, were so narrow.

If the signs do not reduce the incidence of stuck vehicles and damaged cars, the Council and Back Garden will consider further action. The signs are the second part of a three stage effort that includes extending resident’s carparking; signs and replacing trees from the Western Street/Prospect Redevelopment of 1990.

The signs are at the entrance to Warwick Street; NorthStreet/Swindon Road and the entrance to Cross Street.
