Local democracy – cock-up or conspiracy?

There are several conflicting Council and Councillor–led actions underway that relate to local democracy in Eastcott. As a body established under the Council’s ‘Connecting People–Connecting Places’ initiative to encourage residents to become more involved in the way that their area is managed Back Garden is concerned over the duplication, conflicts and lack of access for residents to these.

In the last few months there has been the Eastcott Forum, Localities Meetings, Parish Council, Savernake Halls meetings and now the planning Master Plan. In some case we have heard of these via the local media, some are being held at times that prevent residents attending and others seem to have fizzled out.

Could someone up date us on these initiatives and how they form part of a wider strategy for local democracy?

Back Garden has asked for a response from one of our Councillors and the Council over this issue. We are waiting for an answer.
